BIOGRAPHY of MAX MCGEE
In June of 2007 Max
was chosen as President of the Illinois Mathematics and
Dr. McGee has served as a
substitute teacher, middle school teacher, principal, and superintendent of
three suburban districts. He is an avid writer who has published numerous
articles and speaks at national conferences. He recently presented at several
national conferences including AASA, NASB, the American Education Research
Association Conference, and the International Reading Association Annual
meeting. He also is a regular speaker on leadership at conferences throughout
Dr. McGee’s recent research
on high achieving, high poverty schools that have closed the achievement gap
has garnered state and national attention for identifying how schools and
communities can help all students succeed. In 2004, the Journal for the Education of Students Placed at Risk published this
study on
Dr. McGee’s real passion is
his family. He and his wife Jan, who is the Executive Director of the
Associated Colleges of
Max
participated in the revising and updating of the second edition of What Every
Superintendent and Principal Needs to Know in 2007 and co-authored
the book The
Perfect School (with Jim Rosborg and Jim Burgett)—all in the same year!
